She was born in Coorg, brought up in Bengaluru and is currently working for both Telugu and Kannada industries. Meet Chaithra Rai who is known for her role as Swapna in Telugu TV serial Ashta Chamma in Maa TV. The Telugu serial gave Swapana a proper break in the Telugu industry. This young actor is now busy working for Kannada and Telugu industries and entertaining the audience, as usual, with her charming skills.

“Acting happened all of a sudden. I had completed my Hotel Management course and was training at a coffee shop. A director saw me there and approached me for a film. It was something new and I didn’t know what to say. I asked him to approach my parents and they would be deciding about it,” says Chaitra.

Chaitra was completely new to the industry, and her parents thought it would be nice to see their daughter on-screen. But due to some issues, the film didn’t come on board. However, during file editing of the film in designated labs, a person from small screen had seen Chaitra and approached her for a role in the small screen.

“It was a bit difficult at the start but with time everything became normal. Now, I can speak proper Telugu and understand it. In fact, I’m working for more of Telugu serials now. The journey into small screen has made me more confident and also earn immense love in both the Telugu States,” shares the young actor.

Apart from Ashta Chamma, Chaitra worked in Ala Modalaindi, Atho Athamma Kuthuro, Okkariki Okaru, That is Mahalakshmi, Manasuna Manasai, Dance Jodi Dance (non-fiction show) and is presently working for Atharintlo Akka Chellellu which is telecast in Zee TV.

“I will be seen in a double role for the first time in Atharintlo Akka Chellelu. It’s a bit difficult but I like both the roles. Each of them has its own weightage. Also, I got to experiment with new things in life. Personally, even my husband enjoys this serial and I’m truly blessed to have my family supporting and encouraging me to chase my dreams,” concludes Chaitra.
