Hyderabad: In what could be a peculiar case, the Lalaguda police have booked a woman, Supriya, along with her parents and brother, on charges of cheating her husband by marrying him after suppressing the fact that she could not conceive.

The case under Section 420 (Cheating) read with Section 34 of IPC was registered after receiving orders from the court, which was responding to a petition filed by A. Srimanth, a resident of Shantinagar in Lalaguda.

Srimanth had moved the court stating that his marriage was performed with Supriya hailing from Bidar in 2003, and that since the time of marriage, Supriya was “avoiding the nuptial ceremony” without any reason. Srimanth also stated that he had consulted many doctors, from whose reports he came to know that she could not conceive.

He alleged that she and her relatives knew about this and that they had suppressed this fact to get her married to him.
