Karimnagar: The 20th International Children’s Film Festival started on a colourful note in the erstwhile Karimangar district on Wednesday. As a part of the week-long celebration, Telangana State Film Development Corporation is screening children’s movies from November 8 to 14.
In Sircilla, district Collector D Krishna Bhaskar inaugurated the film festival and watched a movie with the children in Natraj theatre. District Education Officer, Venkateshwarlu initiated celebrations in Jagtial.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO said that message-oriented movies will sharpen children’s intellect. Informing that adventure movies would have a good impact on the children, he added that a comprehensive growth in children was possible with watching knowledge- and message-oriented films.
In Karimangar, the film festival began in Thirumala theatre. Every day, three movies will be screened — at 10 am, 12 noon and 2 pm.
A total of 21 famous children’s movies will be screened including Shanu The Optimist (Telugu), Bandh Bhaskar (Hindi), Chulenge Aakash (Hindi), Chota Sipai, Chutkan-Ki-Mahabharath, Poorna (Telugu), Ek Tha Bhujang (Hindi), Phuto (Hindi), Guru (Hindi), Sixer (Hindi), Hello (Hindi), Appu The Crazy Body, Pappu-Ki-Puckdandi (Hindi), Pinti-ka-Sabus (Hindi), Chaduvukovali (Telugu), Heda Hoda, Karamathi Khat (Hindi), Happy Mothers’ Day (Hindi), Amulyam (Telugu), Ek Ajooba (Hindi) and Aditya (Telugu).
Besides screening message-oriented and knowledge-related movies, TSFDC has also designed different kinds of child-related programmes to celebrate at the village level.
