Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said on Thursday that the success of Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) had enhanced the prestige of Hyderabad city, world over.

Expressing his happiness over the way the GES was organised and Hyderabad Metro Rail was launched, the Chief Minister thanked Chief Secretary SP Singh, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy and other officials who all made it possible. He said all departments concerned had worked in coordination.

The Police Department came in praise from the Chief Minister for the way they handled security issues with decorum.

“The Telangana police won the appreciation of the US Secret Service, Union Home Ministry, Niti Aayog and delegates from abroad for handling a host of programmes efficiently while ensuring security for every dignitary,” KCR said, adding that all events went off well without any untoward incident or causing even the smallest discomfort to visiting dignitaries. The police, he said, maintained high standards in discharging their duties with decorum.

Stating that he had received a message from the Centre praising the role of the State police, he lauded the police for providing excellent security to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President’s Advisor Ivanka Trump, former UK Prime Minister’s wife Cherry Blair and delegates from 150 countries.

“This has increased the prestige of Telangana as a whole which successfully conducted the first-ever mega event,” he said. “In the history of Hyderabad, such a thing had never happened,” he said.

Since the US President’s daughter attended the event, the US Secret Service was directly involved in the security arrangements. The Union Home Ministry also kept a tab on the events due to the visit of the Prime Minister and other Union Ministers.

Intelligence Department, Gray Hounds, SIB and other departments chalked out plans and the operations were coordinated by the Hyderabad Police and executed in a very efficient way, it is learnt. Different events were organised at Miyapur Metro station, Madhapur HICC, Falaknuma Palace, Golconda Fort, Begumpet, Shamshabad airport and Trident Hotel besides handling the VIP aircrafts and three Military choppers flying around.

Despite all this, the Hyderabad police were well prepared as they executed their plan in such a way that nothing went wrong and there was not even a single traffic jam.

The security officials ensured that every delegate was treated well and that whoever attended the conference had returned to the hotel safely. Security arrangements were made in such way that no guest was subjected to any inconvenience under the pretext of security checks. Latest technologies were used to scan every individual thoroughly without subjecting them to physical frisking. The arrangements left no room for complaints.

This was possible only because one IG level officer, along with separate teams, was provided to each VIP and they worked in tandem with Union Home Department and US Secret Service.

Work was divided among the senior officers not only from Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commisionarates limits where the events took place but also from other cities and districts.

Appreciation came in from all quarters that unprecedented security arrangements were made for the mega events that took place in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao appreciated the role of DGP Mahender Reddy in organising and coordinating such a big event within a short span of time after becoming the DGP.

Ivanka’s visit kept secret

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said the entire visit of Ivanka was kept secret. “The US Secret Service shared the details of her movements with the local police only at the last moment. Earlier, they said she would fly here by a special jet but she came in by a regular passenger flight.

They maintained that she would stay in West Inn but she stayed at Trident. They also kept her visit to Golconda Fort secret,” he said, adding that the Telangana Police were also prepared with Plan A and B in tune with the US Secret Service. “They responded to last minute changes in the programmes. This is precisely the reason why US Secret Service officials congratulated Mahender Reddy while they were leaving the city,” he said.
