Collector warns illegal PDS rice transporters

Officials told to tighten vigilance at checkposts and submit report every 15 days.

Suryapet: The Suryapet district Collector K Surendra Mohan on Thursday directed officials of Civil Supplies Department to see that cases were filed against persons, who indulged in illegal transport of PDS rice.

The Collector conducted a meeting with the officials of Civil Supplies and Task Force, and discussed steps to see that PDS rice was not transported to black markets. Directing officials of Civil Supplies to act tough on illegal PDS transporters, Surendra Mohan asked officials to tighten vigilance at checkposts and submit report every 15 days. The list of names of dealers on whom A-6 cases had been filed should be directly sent to district Superintendent of Police by the Civil Supplies officials.

The Collector said he would inform the Superintendent of Police, if any police officers showed negligence in filing FIR against illegal PDS rice transporters. He warned the rice millers that PD Act would be invoked against them, if they indulged in illegal transportation and recycling of PDS rice.

He directed Civil Supplies officers to prepare a comprehensive report on procurement of crops in rabi season. Paddy cleaning machines should be supplied to farmers that would ensure availability of good quality paddy in the market for sale.
