Hyderabad: It was a double whammy for Congress on Monday when a Congress worker attempted to question the injury caused to the right eye of Council Chairman K Swamy Goud by circulating a Telugu TV channel’s screenshot showing the plaster on Goud’s left eye.
The television channel, ABN Andhra Jyothi, has telecast images of the council chairman Swamy Goud and that of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy side by side, but had flipped the image of Swamy Goud making it appear as if he suffered injury on his left eye.
The screenshot went viral on social media platforms where the TV channel was pulled up for flipping the image. Later a Congress leader took the screenshot of ABN Andhra Jyothi and that of another channel showing two images of Swamy Goud showing injury on different eyes.
A sarcastic comment – ‘Which eye of yours has suffered injury, M Chairman?” did not go down well with social media users who questioned the propriety of using such morphed images. The channel has later clarified that the picture was flipped ‘inadvertently,’ and that Goud had indeed suffered an injury on the right eye.
The Congress activist posted screenshots on social media platforms, of two television channels, one (ABN Andhra Jyoti) showing the bandage on the left eye and the other (NTV) showing the bandage on the right eye.
He posed a question to the Council Chairman “Which eye of yours has suffered injury, Mr Chairman?” Goud had suffered the injury to the right eye by a headphone hurled by Congress legislator Komitareddy Venkat Reddy during Governor ESL Narasimhan’s joint address to the State Legislature on Monday.
