Nalgonda: Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Thursday underlined the need to root out Congress party from erstwhile Nalgonda district saying that its leaders from the area had turned into anti-development forces. The TRS, marking the launch of the Zilla Parsihad election campaign in the district, took out a huge rally in Narketpally in which thousands of people participated.
Speaking at a meeting at the culmination of the rally, Jagadish Reddy said it was the Congress leaders who were responsible for the fluoride issue and drought condition for decades in the district. Some Congress leaders like N Uttam Kumar Reddy, K Jana Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy dominated the political arena in the district when the party was in power before reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh. The people of the district had taught a lesson to the Congress in the Assembly elections in 2018, he said, adding that the polling pattern indicated a massive victory for TRS candidates from Bhongir and Nalgonda Lok Sabha seats.
The Minister also called on party leaders and to work hard and ensure party wins all three Zilla Parishad chief posts – Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhongir districts in the ensuing local bodies elections.
Terming the top Congress leaders from the district as anti-development forces, he said there was a need to root out the Congress from the district to ensure uninterrupted implementation of development programmes. He pointed out that a Congress leader had openly announced during the Assembly election campaign that the mega thermal power plant at Damaracharala would be dropped if his party was voted to power. Stating that people were looking for Congress Vimukth Nalgonda (free Nalgonda from clutches of Congress), he asked the party members to working in this direction.
Listing out the irrigation projects and development works taken up by the TRS government in erstwhile Nalgonda district, the Education Minister said Thundathurthy and Suryapet Assembly Constituencies would get irrigation facility through Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) in three months. Irrigation facility would also be provided to the farmers in Bhongir and Alair Assembly constituencies through Baswapur and Gandamalla reservoirs. Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme would also solve irrigation and drinking water problems in backward Devarakonda and Munugode Assembly Constituencies. He assured that trial run of Udhaya Samudram Lift Irrigation Scheme (Brahmana Vellamla Project) would be conducted within month and irrigation provided to 56,000 acres in the coming crop season, he added.
Telangana State Forest Development Corporation Chairman Banda Narender Reddy, Bhongir MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, MLC Karne Prabhakar, TRS state general secretary Thakkelapally Ravinder Rao, former MLA Vemula Veeresham and others were present.
