Nagarkurnool: In a shocking incident, Congress leaders of Nagarkurnool district were seen posing for pictures with a smile at a condolence meet held after the death of four buffaloes which were accidentally electrocuted on Sunday evening.

The buffaloes, that belonged to different farmers from Mantati village in Nagarkurnool mandal, were returning home after grazing in the fields at around 6 pm when a low-tension electric wire snapped and fell on the buffaloes, killing them on the spot.

Even as the news hardly reached the media, ZPTC of Nagarkurnool Konda Manemma, who belongs to the Congress, reached the spot on Monday for an enquiry and interacted with the farmers. Later, she, along with other Congress workers and the farmer himself, were all smiles while posing for the media with their palms held high.

“One of the buffaloes could have rubbed itself to one of the low-tension wire poles resulting in the wire getting snapped and falling on them. Even in the past, a similar incident had occurred and we were able to ensure an ex-gratia of Rs 40,000 to the farmers for the loss of each buffalo. This time also we will send proposals and try to get the compensation as soon as we can,” said Meghanath, AE, Electricity Department.
