Warangal Urban: It seems that there is no end to controversies related to admissions into the PhD programmes at the Kakatiya University.
In a fresh incident, the authorities of the varsity have indefinitely postponed the interviews for PhD in Chemistry department. While the interviews were scheduled for three days starting from January 4, they did not begin as per the scheduled date much to the disappointment of the candidates.
A candidate, who got a call letter for the interview, said, “I have come to the department by 9 am and waited till evening for the interview. But in the evening around 6 pm, we were told that the interviews were postponed. Much to our shock, the officials said that next dates of the interviews would be announced later.”
Sources in the varsity said that the differences between head of the department G Dayakar and Chairman, Board of Studies (BoS), G Hanumanthu over calling of the external expert has led to the postponement of interviews. But Chairman of the BoS, G Hanumanthu said that dean, faculty of sciences, Prof Y Prameela Devi, has misled him on the interviews.
“I have even contacted the registrar and lodged a complaint with him to take necessary action against those responsible for misleading me,” he said.
Sources said that as many as 163 candidates have been sent call letters for interviews. It may be recalled here that the results of the PhD were released and later withheld citing technical snags in the calculation of marks. Later, the results were out for the second and final time.
