Cop killed, three injured in accident involving AP Minister’s convoy

Hyderabad: One head constable of the Andhra Pradesh police died while two constables and a driver were injured when the police escort vehicle in AP Minister for Energy B.Srinivas Reddy’s convoy turned over at Koheda village on the city outskirts here on Tuesday morning.

Police suspect the escort vehicle‘s tyre burst leading to the mishap.

The mishap occurred around 11 am, when Srinivas Reddy’s convoy was proceeding from Hyderabad to Vijayawada via the Outer Ring Road.

According to the police, when the convoy reached near Koheda village on the Outer Ring Road, the left rear tyre of the police escort vehicle suddenly burst.

“As a result, the vehicle went out of control and somersaulted a few times before it stopped,” police said.

A police head constable Papa Rao and two constables and the driver who were in the escort vehicle suffered injuries.

The security personnel in the minister’s convoy with the help of the police and local villagers rushed the injured to the hospital. Papa Rao died on the way to hospital.

On receiving information, the Abdullapurmet police reached the spot and took up investigation.
