Hyderabad: The Abid Road police have reportedly identified suspects in the No Objection Certificate scam at the Telangana State Wakf Board in 2017.
Two persons who were associated with the board had apparently forged the signatures of higher officials and tried to gain a land parcel measuring 4.5 acres at Malkajgiri.
According to sources, the duo is on the run and teams from the city police are making efforts to nab them. One of them is said to be a native from Khammam.
After they got wind of police tracking them, both had gone underground, said a source in the department.
It may be recalled the NOC was issued in the name of the then Wakf Board chief executive officer Mannan Farooqui, who categorically denied issuing it.
The Abid Road police, who took up the investigation, collected the sample signatures of the Farooqui and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.
A case was registered in November 2017 at the police station.
The TS Wakf Board had earlier passed a resolution pressing for an inquiry by the Crime Investigation Department into the issue and also several others.
