The coronation ceremony of Lord Rama was performed in a traditional manner, a day after Seeta Rama Kalyanam which took place on Sunday.

Bhadrachalam (Kothagudem): Grandeur and gaiety marked Sri Rama Mahapattabhishekam at Sri Seeta Ramachandraswamy Temple here on Monday.

The coronation ceremony of Lord Rama was performed in a traditional manner, a day after Seeta Rama Kalyanam which took place on Sunday. Governor ESL Narasimhan attended the ceremony and presented ‘Pattu Vastrams’ to the presiding deities.

The decorated festival deities were brought from the main temple to Mithila Stadium amid Vedic chants by the priests, accompanied by Bhajan and Kolatam troupes. The coronation was performed at a colourfully decorated Kalyana Mandapam at the stadium.

The priests performed Mahakumabha Teerthaprokshana, Viswakshena Pooja and other rituals that were unique to Bhadradri Rama. Lord Rama was adorned with emerald ornaments, gold ‘Padukas’, sword and Chintaku Patakam and was crowned as the devotees chanted ‘Jai Jai Sri Ram’.

Vedic scholar G Krishnamacharulu and the temple’s senior priest KE Sthalasai explained the significance of the coronation ceremony, which was part of Bhadradri temple’s brahmotsavams.

Thousands of devotees from across the Telugu States, neighbouring Chhattisgarh and other parts of the county witnessed the coronation conducted in the presence of Ahobila Ramanjuna Jeeyar Swamiji who also narrated the importance of the religious event.

Kothagudem District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini, Superintendent of Police Sunil Datt, ITDA Project Officer VP Gowtham and other officials were present.
