The accident has left relatives and friends in the city shocked. Divya, who was driving the car and Raja Gavini and Premnath (42), inside the vehicle were killed on the spot, according to media reports.

Divya’s family residing in Jagadamba Apartments in Golconda crossroads in Gandhinagar, received the tragic news through their relatives in Texas. Divya’s mother Shiva Leela is yet to be told about the demise of her daughter, since she fainted on hearing that Divya was involved in an accident.

Divya’s father Gautham Avula, a retired bank manager said his daughter, Raja and their friend Premnath had dropped their daughter seven-year-old Riya at a dance class before they set out to Dallas to visit the house site. The two had got married in 2007. Divya had pursued her engineering course in Kanchipuram after completing her studies in Hyderabad. After doing an engineering course, Raja completed his MS from the US and was presently working as a software engineer in an IT company.

Premnath, a native of Guntur district, has been Raja’s friend for long after both went to college together. The family, who had last spoke to Divya on February 21, requested the media persons not to disturb them as were already in a shock. Soon after accident, the Frisco police informed the matter to the couple’s friends. Divya’s sister, who is also in the US, received the information and passed on to her parents in Hyderabad.

Another person associated with the family said efforts were on collect more details about the accident. “We are touch with both Divya’s sister and friends in Frisco to complete the formalities in getting the bodies. It might take at least a week to get the bodies to the city,” he said. Divya’s family is receiving several phone calls from their near and dear ones enquiring about the accident. Her father’s phone was continuously ringing ever since the incident came to light around noon on Tuesday.

Premnath’s details unclear

Hyderabad: Details of the third person who lost his life in the Frisco accident, identified as Premnath Ramanatham, are still unclear.

In a post on Facebook, one David Solomon Raju, a faculty with a Hyderabad-based institute of technology and science, tagged a gofundme.com post requesting help for Prem, and said Prem was his friend from 1993.

Recalling that they had met first at a maths tuition centre, Raju goes on to say that Prem completed his intermediate from Hindu College and that he did his B Tech from VRS Engineering College, Vijayawada.

“He was my roommate for all the duration of course. Later, he went to USA for Master’s. We used to meet wherever he comes to India,” notes Raju, adding that they had thought of meeting again in April.
