Covid-19: 52 new cases, one death in Telangana on Saturday

According to the 9 pm bulletin from the Health department, 33 of Saturday’s cases were from the GHMC limits, while 19 were migrants and foreign evacuees.

Hyderabad: There were 52 positive Covid-19 cases in the State on Saturday, while one person died due to the virus.

According to the 9 pm bulletin from the Health department, 33 of Saturday’s cases were from the GHMC limits, while 19 were migrants and foreign evacuees. Four of the cases are those who returned from Kuwait, while the remaining 15 were from Maharashtra.

With this, the total positive cases so far has gone up to 1,813, out of whom 1,068 were discharged. The total number of deaths so far is 49, while 25 persons were discharged on Saturday. There are 696 active cases as on date, while Warangal (Rural), Yadadri and Wanaparthy continued to be districts with zero positive cases till date.

There are 25 districts with no new positive cases since the last 14 days.

Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Dr. G Srinivas Rao said that since May 16, when the lockdown was relaxed, it has been observed that there is a lot of mobility and movement of people from all walks of life and of all age groups.

“As a result, there is a surge in positive cases since the past few days. In view of ensuing safety, people must maintain physical distancing and children and elderly must avoid venturing out,” Dr. Srinivas Rao said.

Health officials advised children less than 10 years and above 60 years should avoid going out, always use face masks, maintain physical distancing in all aspects of life, frequently wash hands and soap and water.

In case of any flu or influenza like symptoms such as cough, core throat, running nose, fever, difficulty in breathing and body pains, individuals must visit the nearest government health care facility and seek required health services.
