“I will always be ready to help out people who are enthusiastic in learning about Wikicommons,” says Adithya Pakide who holds a world record for uploading 1,000 images in Wikicommons every day since 2017. Whenever we have a doubt, we first refer to Wikipedia to get more information about it, the pictures that usually appear along with the write-up are Wikimedia Commons images. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, like images, sounds and other multi-media files that are not subjected to copyright restrictions. Adithya Pakide till date has uploaded more than 1,500 pictures and has been appreciated for his work by the co- founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales.

Adithya who is pursuing his post-graduation in public administration, is a photography enthusiast and belongs to Kanchanpalli village, Jangoan district. He regularly uploads pictures of historical monuments, sculptures, inscriptions, tribes, places, places linked with geographically importance, temples, cultures-cultural events, seminars, etc. “I have a habit of reading books from my childhood which was passed on to me from my father Sathyanarayana Pakide. I developed an interest in starting a blog called “Mana Muchatlu” from where I started my journey in writing. Sometime later, I came to know about the 100 days challenge in Wikipedia and started writing in Wikipedia, and participated in the challenge,” says Adithya who later started contributing pictures to Wikicommons.

It all began when Adithya was searching for free pictures related to articles online, when he was unable to find them, he took up the challenge of uploading 100 pictures in 100 days and voluntarily continued doing it for 365 days and created a world record in the process. “The first picture that I uploaded was of SaroorNagar Lake in 2017. I upload the pictures and files through Wikicommons app,” says Adithya who received a Digital Appreciation award after completing 365 Wiki days from the Director of Language and Culture, Telangana.
