Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy on Monday said that it is to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s credit that Telangana State occupies the top spot in the country in implementation of welfare programmes for the people.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for CC roads at Durajpally village in the district, Jagdish Reddy said the TRS government focused on development and welfare of the people without looking into political affiliations. “Hence, all the people are reaping the benefits of welfare schemes in the State,” he said, adding that Suryapet area was denied irrigation facility for decades, but the TRS government succeeded in providing irrigation facility to more than two lakh acres in the district for two crops through SRSP canal.
He said that the entire country was looking towards Telangana State for its achievements in development within a short span of time and welfare schemes, which have changed the lives of the people. Listing out Rythu Bandu, Rythu Bima, Kalyana Lakshmi schemes and Mission Bhagiratha, he reminded that the Centre and neighboring States have also copied our schemes and implementing similar schemes with other names to gain the confidence of the people.
Suryapet will soon turn into a model town
Referring to the statement of the Chief Minister to turn Telangana into a State with one crore acres of wet lands, Jagadish Reddy stated that the Chief Minister has turned 1.25 crore acres, which was more than that of what he had told. In a first in the country, the foundation laying and the inauguration was done by the same Chief Minister for the Kaleshwaram Project. He pointed out that the Chief Minister has completed the works of Kaleshwaram project in a record time. Suryapet district was also getting Godavari waters through SRSP canal due to completion of Kaleshwaram project, he maintained.
He has also appealed the people to cooperate for development of Suryapet irrespective of politics. He exuded confidence that Suryapet would soon become a model town in the state.
Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, former municipal chairperson of Suryapet Ganduri Pravallika Prakash, district libraries president Nimmala Srinivas and others were also present.
