Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar complimented the police and other departments for facilitating transportation of over 50,000 migrant workers through 40 trains on a single day on Saturday.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the efforts of Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy and other officials for making all arrangements in ensuring the migrant workers boarded the 40 trains without any inconvenience.
Till the date, over 1.58 lakh migrant workers have been ferried to different destinations through 124 trains. To this effect, the State government spent about Rs 13.15 crore. Except for those hailing from West Bengal, transportation of migrant workers to other States is almost completed, he said.
“Once normalcy is restored in West Bengal, workers will be permitted to travel. Already, 10 trains have been arranged for safe transportation of workers from Bengal,” said Somesh Kumar according to a press release.
