Hyderabad: With many cybercrime cases being reported in recent times, the Cyberabad Police have issued guidelines on cybercrime for citizens to avoid falling into traps.
With regard to cybercrime against women, which include abusive mails/messages, creating fake accounts on social networking websites, the police have suggested not to post personal pictures on social networking sites or share personal information or phone numbers to unknown persons. It was better to personally meet and verify the genuineness of bridegrooms and not to share personal information on matrimony websites.
On company related crime which include email hacking, data theft and source code theft, they have suggested maintaining own website to prevent hacking email IDs and monitoring the mails received carefully. Do not allow browsing personal emails and social networking sites at office by other employees. Maintain strong firewalls to prevent hacking.
On general public related offences, which include credit/debit card fraud, job frauds, lottery frauds and online cheating, cybercrime officials have suggested not respond to calls or mails when asked to share bank account details. Always shop in secure websites and do not encourage backdoor job entries. Do not respond to calls from numbers with the code starting with (+92) or mails received from unknown persons.
