Cybercrimes increased during lockdown, says Telangana DGP

At the launch of a month-long online campaign 'CybHer' aimed at a safer cyber world for women and children, he said the campaign would enable the internet users become more aware of cyber risks and countermeasures.

Hyderabad: Cybercrimes have increased significantly during the lockdown enforced to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, said Director-General of Police, M. Mahendar Reddy here on Wednesday.

At the launch of a month-long online campaign ‘CybHer’ aimed at a safer cyber world for women and children, he said the campaign would enable the internet users become more aware of cyber risks and countermeasures.

UNICEF India is extending necessary support for the campaign organized by the Telangana Women Safety Wing. The main intention behind the campaign is to educate women and children about the online threat and precautions to be taken.

As part of the programme, essay writing, group discussions and other events would be organized. Eminent personalities from the sports, film and legal fields along with psychologists, and experts dealing with the cybercrimes, students and counselors took part during the launch of the programme.
