Hyderabad: A second year Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) student allegedly hanged himself at his residence in Kurmaguda here late on Monday.

According to D Nagesh, Inspector, Madannapet, Mirza Asim Baig (33) was pursing his MDS from Panineeya Institute of Dental Sciences at Dilsukhnagar. In a recent exam, Asim had failed in a couple of subjects, after which he was depressed. Off late, he was also unhappy over some developments in his personal life, added Nagesh.

“We have recovered a note from his room, in which he said the department was taking out a personal grudge on him by making him fail in the exams. We are not sure about the authenticity of the note, which we have sent for analysis to the Forensic Science lab. Once the report comes, we hope to get a clear picture of what made him resort to this extreme step,” the Inspector said.

Meanwhile, an autopsy was conducted at the Osmania General Hospital morgue and the body was handed over to his family members. A case has been booked and a probe is on.
