Suryapet: Measures are being taken to make all money transactions online in the district by end of January, 2017, said district Collector K Surendra Mohan on Tuesday.
Launching a swiping machine at Suryapet Municipal Office for online payment of taxes, Surendra Mohan said that an awareness programmes would be conducted in all wards of the municipality and at business establishment to encourage people towards online transactions. About 2,500 special volunteers would be appointed in the district by end of this month for the purpose.
He said that Income Tax Department would also conduct a programme in SV College on Wednesday to remove apprehensions and misconceptions that shops owners have about online transactions. He added that in the first phase, swiping machines would be set up at educational institutions, petrol bunks, and LPG distribution offices where cash transaction was more.
Suryapet Municipal Chairperson Ganduri Pravallika Prakash said that Suryapet Municipality would become number one in the State in payment of taxes through online and cashless transactions. Swiping machines would be set up at tax collection centres in all wards of the municipality. She assured to strive to make Suryapet town a role model in paying taxes online.
Later, the district Collector also examined the online payment process at Mee Seva Centre. Suryapet Municipality Vice Chairperson Nerella Lakshmi, resource person Narender and municipal councillors attended the programme.
