Wanaparthy: Minister for Agriculture S Niranjan Reddy said that those voting for opposition parties in the ensuing municipal elections would be wasting their invaluable franchise, as development was possible only through the TRS. The Minister assured the people that he would take complete responsibility of developing the municipality in all possible ways.
During his election campaign at Rajanagaram, Nagavaram, Nagavaram Thanda and Hanuman Tekdi localities of Wanaparthy municipality on Sunday, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s dream was to see people’s money reaching the people without the influence of middlemen and therefore he had devised welfare schemes keeping in mind the needs of the people of Telangana.
He said that Wanaparthy was neglected in the past 60 years by the then governments. “In the past, sewage used to be let into Rajanagaram’s Amma Cheruvu. We have filled this irrigation tank with Krishna waters and are going to install a sewage treatment plant soon,” he said.
Observing that the food crops cultivated in sewage-mixed water could cause diseases, he said there was a need to make a clean environment to future generations and that would be done by beautification of Rajanagaram Cheruvu by constructing a mini-tank bund, on which the famous Rajanagaram jatara stalls would be placed in the near future. He said that the Ramakrishneshwara temple in Rajangaram, where the annual jatara is held, was the first-of-its-kind in southern India and there was a need to conduct it in a grand way.
Pointing out that road-widening works in Nagavaram were being done, the Minister said the government would construct 2BHK houses for those who lose their homes as part of the works in a phased manner. He asserted that it was only possible for TRS to do that.
He said that the development of Wanaparthy would be done as per well-developed plans which will address not only short-term, but also long-term issues of the municipality.
