Hyderabad: Information is one of the most crucial aspects for youngsters aspiring for an education and career in the United States. However, it is that information which is often not available for them, with the entire American dream slowly turning sour.
Now, the American Telangana Association (ATA) has launched a Helpline and Student Guide for students aiming at an academic life and later, a career in the US. The move is to help students from India make wise choices, according to the ATA.
The reasons behind the helpline, it said, was that there was a lack of ‘relevant information on demand’ to make a life changing decision; lack of monetary support; lack of awareness of scholarships available; lack of access to sound academic advice and career counseling; and lack of guidance on norms and regulations on staying in the US.
The helpline would help students to find the right institution with the help of a College Navigator, apart from guiding them on health insurance, accreditation, immigration, campus safety, funding opportunities, jobs support and even tips on driving safety. The information provided, according to ATA, is from websites maintained by the US government.
