To give back something to the society and help other women to be healthy is what Sarvamangala Chavali, founder of Anagha, aims at. The popular store located in Banjara Hills, known for its exclusive handloom saris and blouses for women, has come up with an initiative of promoting ‘Delicate Touch Sanitary Napkins’ that are 100% natural — made of bamboo fibre and corn starch.
“Usually, the regular pads that are available in the market now are not safe as they contain chemicals which cause rash, itchiness and other infections. They are also causes for PCOD and thyroid imbalance, and do not decompose. They contain dioxins, which are highly toxic and can cause reproductive and developmental problems, damage the immune system, interfere with hormones and also cause cancer. When I came across Dr Radhika Nayak’s ‘Delicate Touch Sanitary Napkins’ and understood the benefits, I thought of promoting these pads in our stores as many women come here,” says Sarvamangala.
An initiative by Hubli-based Dr Radhika Nayak, an OB/GYN, the biodegradable pads are not only beneficial to women but also to the environment as the napkin decomposes in just 20 days and they are dioxin- and toxin-free. The pads come in 2 sizes — Regular and XXL. The regular ones are priced at Rs 100 for a pack of 8 pads and XXL at Rs 120 for a pack of 8.
