The tableau of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) attracted audience in hordes at the Republic Day celebrations held in Police Parade grounds on Thursday. DRDA had made their tableau with cloth, while other departments paraded their tableaus made of plastic flexis.

The tableau was made out of cloth material in order to send a message to the public to shun the use of plastic and protect the environment, DRDA officials said.

The Government was making serious efforts to control the damage of environment, and will push for reduction of plastic use, Municipal Administration Department officials said, adding that they have already banned the use of plastic in municipalities.

The Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, which banned flexis in its limits, has also prepared its tableau with plastic material. Surprisingly, the ban of use of plastic was also highlighted on the tableau besides all other programmes being implemented by the corporation.

The Election Commission’s tableau was also another attraction during the celebrations. The district administration made a tableau asking all above the age of 18 to exercise their franchise and vote for a better future. National Voter Day is also being observed on January 26 every year. Tableaus of several other departments were paraded, such as Agriculture, Medical and Health, and Women and Child Welfare.
