Hyderabad: A green commute effort has been launched at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) from Friday last, with environment-friendly e-Auto-rickshaw services available on the campus.
The university, which has a large campus with immense bio-diversity and is home to over 75 varieties of bird, lakes, large green covers and rock formations, had gone for the e-Auto move after deliberations on the same during a recent meeting held with stakeholders on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With the e-Auto services on the campus, the university is striving to combat the extremely detrimental carbon emitting conventional fuel vehicles, according to an official press release.
The services of two e-auto rickshaws will be available from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm at a flat fare of Rs.10. The fares have to be paid only by e-wallets (Paytm) or through UPI. The current routes link major buildings, departments, hostels and the library on the campus. The service is being run by Transvahan Technologies India Private Limited, Bengaluru on an ‘Own, Operate and Maintain’ basis, the press release added.
