As summer has officially set in, ‘tis the season to get chilled delights to make the tummy happy. While the parents are busy with daily chores, kids can appreciate their efforts by treating them with summer coolers. They need not wait for mom and dad to make you a quick glass of milkshake or smoothie and can actually make it themselves.
Chilled Glass O’ Lime
Cold water 6 glasses (250 ml each)
Sugar 1 cup
Salt 2 tsp
Mint leaves to make it look pretty
Ice cubes to chill the drink, duh
10 minutes to 15 minutes
How to get started
Take the lemons from the kitchen counter and roll them between your hands, applying a little pressure.This makes the lemons super juicy to flavour your cold water.
Meanwhile, boil or microwave one glass of water and take it out of heat once it starts to bubble. Add granulated sugar and salt into the mixture and stir till they melt. Keep aside to cool.
Cut lemons in half. If you are asking your mother for help, use a plastic knife or let a grown up cut the lemons for you. Otherwise, just cut the lemons in half.Use a strainer to squeeze lemons with clean hands into a big bowl.
Bring in an even bigger bowl and mix the sugar syrup, lemon juice and six glasses of water and stir the mixture. Sample the taste, add more sugar, water or lemon if needed.
Serve chilled with ice cubes; float a mint leaf on top to tell people that you mean business. Enjoy.
