Warangal girl Eesha Rebba feels that she is stereotyped as a Telugu ammayi and wants to try different roles in the near future. The actor got talking ahead of her upcoming Telugu movie Ragala 24 Gantallo directed by Srinivas Reddy.
“I feel very lucky to get this project. It’s a very unusual role and is a female-centric one. I play the character of Vidhya and all other characters in the movie are interlinked with her,” she says. Eesha says that her role in the movie has taken a severe toll on her health, physically and mentally. The whole movie relied on her shoulders and due to commitments in the Tamil film industry, it has become quite difficult for Eesha to travel from Hyderabad to Chennai.
Going by the looks of the theatrical trailer, Eesha looks quite glamorous in her avatar. “After a really long time, some one is saying that I look glamorous. All my roles in Telugu have been stereotypical. My style and most of the characters I played were of a conservative Telugu girl. So that is why I could not wear anything different. I hope I get a chance to wear different styles in future,” she says.
When asked whether local talent gets the short end of the stick when it comes to movie offers, she says, “I don’t understand what kind of a fetish this is. But when this stereotype of tagging ‘Telugu girl’ is broken, local talent will have more offers on par with outsiders. A lot of female actors have emerged from Telugu States, but the opportunities for them on the silver screen are very less,” she adds.
About her upcoming projects, Eesha is looking forward to Lust Stories Telugu, which will be streamed on Netflix. However, the script of Telugu Lust Stories is different from the Hindi version. Sankalp Reddy is directing the movie and cast includes Avasarala Srinivas, Sathyadev and others. Her upcoming Tamil movie titled Aayiram Jenmangal is releasing on December 20.
