There aren’t many who can say that they have never heard of YouTube’s biggest star, Pewdiepie, but Ekta Kapoor isn’t one of them. The star producer and owner of Balaji Telefilms engaged in a pretty much one-sided twitter feud with Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg aka Pewdiepie, who has 62 million subscribers on the video-sharing platform. This happened after the YouTuber shared a screenshot of Ekta’s erstwhile show Kasamh Se on Twitter with the caption “(good quality)”, taking a dig at the bad quality of the video.
Ekta Kapoor, understandably was not pleased.
Retweeting a post from a popular newspaper, she expressed her anger and commented on Pewdiepie’s looks, saying that he “Luks like d firang junior artists…(sic)”.
And, Twitteratis were not having it and called her comments racist. While she remained silent that day, she took a jab at the YouTube star once again after he posted a video titled, You India You Lose. The video’s title was a supposed play on words for the challenge, You Laugh You Lose. Ekta took to Twitter once again to condemn Felix for not knowing any TV personality or Rajnikanth but as a foreigner, can he even be blamed? She went on to say that she would not apologise and that the people who called her racist should check out the content of his channel.
What didn’t help matters was also Pewdiepie’s past with anti-semitism in a video, where he claimed to be making fun. However, that does not excuse counter racism. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, doesn’t it?
