Kamanpur (Peddapalle): Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate from Peddapalle Lok Sabha constituency Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha has vowed to strive for the comprehensive development of the segment.
He, along with former MLA Putta Madhu and other TRS leaders, has been addressing meetings and taking part in roadshows every day and on Monday, received a boost with TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao addressing a public meeting in his support at Ramagundam.
At every programme, Venkatesh has been appealing to people to give him an opportunity to serve the constituency and reminding them of the development and welfare activities of the TRS government.
“I am from Mancherial, and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao gave me an opportunity to contest as I belong to the constituency,” he says. On the other hand, Congress candidate Dr A Chandrasekhar was not from the constituency. “If you elect him, you will have to go to Hyderabad to meet your MP,” he said.
Last Saturday, while campaigning here, Venkatesh said he would always be available to them. Referring to former TRS MLA Putta Madhu’s defeat in the last election, Venkatesh termed it unfortunate and assured people he would take up the responsibility of developing Manthani Assembly constituency, which Madhu had represented.
Venkatesh said after the formation of the State, revolutionary changes were brought by Chandrashekhar Rao, who introduced several innovative schemes and programmes besides taking up construction of irrigation projects.
“I am confident that the TRS will play a vital role in the formation of the Union government,” he says.
TRS candidate thanks people for making CM’s a success
Dr Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha said he would be accessible to the public and would serve all sections of society if elected.
Addressing the media at the residence of Mancherial MLA Diwakar Rao for thanking people who made Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s public meeting a grand success, Venkatesh thanked Minister Koppula Eshwar, legislators of Peddapalli Parliament constituency — D Manohar Reddy, K Chander, Balka Suman, N Diwakar Rao and D Chinnaiah — and former Manthani MLA P Madhu for extending their cooperation for the meeting. Diwakar Rao opined that Venkatesh would easily win the polls if participants, who took part in the meeting, and their family members cast votes for the TRS nominee. He said triumph of the nominee would help Mancherial in getting railway bridges, halting of express trains etc. He said the Chief Minister had felt happy after seeing the turnout for the event.
Miners give warm reception
Centenary Colony: Singareni workers and local TRS activists turned up in large numbers to give a warm reception to party Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha as he reached here to campaign.
Amid drumbeats of Oggu artistes and Kolatam performed by women, Venkatesh went around the residential quarters of the miners seeking votes. Besides Singareni employees, people from various villages of Ramagiri mandal thronged the Centenary Colony to extend their support to the TRS candidate.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Bonkuri Pochaiah, a resident of Kalwacherla of Ramagiri mandal, exuded confidence that Venkatesh would win as MP with a thumping majority.
A native of Chennur, Mancherial district, which falls in Peddapalle parliament constituency, Venkatesh Netha was born in an agricultural family and knows the problems faced by farmers and agriculture sector. In contrast, several say the Congress nominee is a non-local and does not understand agriculture.
Another voter, Japathi Shekar, said the State government fulfilled all the promises made to Singareni workers after the TRS came to power. Though Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao revived dependent job scheme in Singareni Collieries Company Limited, it had been stalled as some youth approached the court. All SCCL workers would vote for the TRS candidate, he hoped.
Buru Raju, a local TRS leader, said he was sure that all the people would vote for Venkatesh. We were going door to door explaining people about various schemes of the TRS government for the welfare of the poor, farmers and other weaker sections, he said.
‘I’m a first-timer but not a non-local like Cong nominee’
Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha, TRS Peddapalli Parliament constituency nominee, shared his campaign particulars in an interview with ‘Telangana Today’.
How is your campaign progressing?
People are voluntarily coming forward to welcome me wherever I go. It is an indication that people, who re-elected the TRS with a thumping majority in the Assembly polls, are once again going to vote for the party in Parliament elections too.
How are you convincing people since you are a new face in the district?
Yes, I am the first-timer. But, I am not a non-local like the Congress candidate. I am a native of Chennur of Mancherial in the constituency.
You have resigned from a top government job. What is the reason for entering into politics?
I was born in a poor family and cracked top cadre job by studying hard. However, I was satisfied and decided to quit the job and join politics to serve people.
Why should people vote for you?
I am appealing to people to elect me taking into account welfare and developmental programmes being implemented in the State. I am also assuring them that being a well-educated person, I will raise local problems in Parliament.
What are your plans for the constituency’s development?
During the campaign, I am taking note of the problems by interacting with people as well as receiving representations from various sections. I will try to solve all of them.
If everything goes well, the TRS will play a vital role in the formation of the Union government since no political party is in a position to cross the magic figure. In such a case, the party will be in a position to dictate terms at the Centre. So, It will be easy for me to get sanctioned more funds and develop the constituency on all fronts.
