Hyderabad: S Chandrasekhar, Director (Operations), Singareni Collieries, said engineers’ associations should contribute their part to the development of the country by providing constructive guidance in the designing of industrial policies, which is required to support the country to sustain the mineral industries.
Speaking at Valedictory function of the two-day national conference, which was organised by Institution of Engineers (India) held at Vishweshwaraiah Bhavan on Saturday, Chandrasekhar said was necessary that engineers association should give their suggestions with realistic perspectives in lots of changes which is bringing by the government in the matter of Minerals Industries Management, Permission for Mines and Environmental Permissions.
He said the mineral industries were paying various types of cess and funds to the governments in accordance with the guidelines and if they take some steps for the development of the local people along with their mining activities then they would get good cooperation from the local people and they could get the new mines and increase their productivity, which could create some job opportunities for the local people. The government and the industry have to do their best to take these steps, he added.
There is need of more clarity on implementing of minimum wages for outsourcing employees working in underground mines, the insurance for the heavy machineries purchased with investments in crore, he said.
Organizing Committee Co-convener MS Venkatramaiah, Institution of Engineers-India Telangana State Chairman G Rameshwar Rao, Telangana State Mining and Geology Department Director BRV Susheel Kumar were present in the Valedictory function.
K J Amarnath, Chairman (Technical Committee), Singareni Collieries, said the decisions in front of the members which were taken in two-day conference and it includes demanding all permissions pertaining to the mining should be granted in the single window system, which would help new mining to start soon and it would contribute in the development of the country, he said.
