Hyderabad: The MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao on Wednesday stepped in to quell the anxiety and confusion among hostellers who were being pressured to vacate hostels and PG accommodations by the managements.
He asked the hostel/ PG managements to not evict anyone from their properties and instructed officials to ensure that the hostels/ PGs receive the support to continue their functions without any problem

Following this, the Director-General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy warned of stern action against the managements of hostels if they failed to continue to provide accommodation to the hostellers.
He asked all the Inspectors concerned, Assistant Commissioners of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police along with the GHMC officials to hold meetings with the hostel managements and ensure compliance.
As it came to the notice of police that the managements were pressurizing the hostellers when lockdown was on to contain COVID-19 virus, he asked the managements to continue to accommodate the hostellers without any disruption.
Cyberabad Commissioner V C Sajjanar warned hostel and paying guest accommodation owners of strict action if they forced people to vacate the accommodation.
In a meeting conducted with the managements of the accommodations, he said lockdown period is on and the government prohibited movement of people. “All the PG hostel owners are requested to cooperate and ensure the safety of the people staying in the premises by maintaining hygiene,” he said.

Meanwhile, as per the instructions of the MA&UD Minister, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan along with Deputy Speaker, Padma Rao Goud paid a visit to the central kitchen of Annapurna meals scheme at Nanakramguda and requested Akshayapatra organisers to supply food to PG hostels in this dire situation and they accepted it.
