Hyderabad: Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Thursday directed officials of the department to provide timely treatment to animals suffering from seasonal diseases and warned of stern action if they fail to do so.
The Minister, who held a video conference from his office here, said the government has procured and distributed vaccines and veterinary medicines worth crores of rupees to provide treatment to animals.
He said a team will be formed to visit all veterinary hospitals to check the availability of all medicines. “We have been receiving several complaints from farmers that most of the important medicines are not available in government veterinary hospitals,” he said. He directed the officials to take necessary steps to shift the Veterinary Biological and Research Institute (VBRI) to Karakapatla of Medchal district.
Calling upon the officials to encourage farmers to grow fodder in their fields, he wanted that construction of cattle sheds and water tubs under the Employment Guarantee Scheme must be speeded up. He also wanted setting up of milk chilling centres at several places.
