Hyderabad: Telangana State Transco, Genco Chairman and Managing Director Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao have called upon the employees and staff all over the State to extend their services to the people bracing the lockdown, as electricity supply comes under the essential services. He wanted all the employees in generation plants, sub stations, those working on lines to offer their services to people while taking care of their personal health.
On Thursday, Prabhakar Rao along with the Energy Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra held a tele-conference from Vidyut Soudha. Transco JMD Srinivasa Rao, SPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, NPDCL CMD Gopal Rao also participated. Prabhakar Rao spoke to Electricity Organisations Directors, Administrators of various plants, and District officials of Discoms during the conference.
He said that the government has clamped down total lockdown to prevent spread of the Corona Virus. All others services except the emergency services were shut down. “The electricity department should be on high alert during this period and provide emergency services,” he added. Hospitals are working round the clock to protect public health, farmers are growing crops so that there was no scarcity of essential commodities and all the police stations are on the high alert.
“People are staying in their homes. They need uninterrupted power supply. Hence ensure that power is supplied without any problem. For this the electricity employees should work round day and night. Like in the past, this is the time for electricity department to stand first in the line and show their commitment and dedication during this troubled time,” Prabhakar Rao urged.
He wanted employees working in the plants should take precautions against the virus as more number of employees is needed for the Plants. Employees should maintain personal hygiene. The Plant management should ensure high sanitization at the pants. He wanted employees attending the duties to display their Identity cards prominently so that the police at check posts can identify them and let them attend duties.
Prabhakar Rao also requested DGP Mahender Reddy that the police should cooperate to ensure electricity employees discharge their duties. He said employees working in Power Plants, Sub Stations, and Linemen work in shifts and they should be allowed to travel to and from without any problem. The DGP positively responded to the request.
The DGP instructed the police personnel to allow Electricity employees going for their duties after showing their ID cards. The DGP said medical and Health, electricity, sanitary, drinking water supply, sewerage, media and other such institutions should be treated as Emergency services. He said the police would cooperate if the emergency services personnel display their ID Cards.
