EPTRI launches initiative to enhance knowledge on climate issues

Hyderabad: Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) in partnership with German development agency GiZ on Tuesday launched a multi-level initiative called ‘Capacity Building Programmes on Climate Change Adaptation’ for Telangana.

The programme series is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF) and is part of GiZ’s bilateral technical programme called ‘Climate Change Adaptation in Rural Areas of India (CCA-RAI)’.

It aims at mainstreaming climate change into sectoral planning process and also at strengthening capacity building and enhancing knowledge on climate issues.

The project workshop was inaugurated at Telangana Secretariat by Chief Secretary Dr SK Joshi and attended by EPTRI Director General B Kalyan Chakravarthy, GiZ India climate change director Dr Ashish Chaturvedi, senior principal secretaries from forest, agriculture, energy, municipal and other departments, senior scientists from International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), and senior officers from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard).
