Hyderabad: Environment Protection and Training Research Institute (EPTRI) and its resource partner Envis conducted a certificate course on ‘Preparation of People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) under the Green Skill Development Programme as part of the Government of India’s national skill development programme.

A total of 20 science graduates were given training from June 11 to 30. The students were imparted theory and practical lessons, and were taken to the field for research.
They were taken to Jangamreddipalli in Amrabad, accompanied by EPTRI director general B Kalyan Chakravarthy. The students received the certificate from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.

The course will equip the students for employment in a sustainable manner, a press release from the institute said. The main objective of the programme was to enhance the skills of the youth in the specific area of taxonomy, so as to enable them for employment.

The certificate course would serve as a source of opportunity for the students to find employment with State Biodiversity Boards and Forest Departments across the country, as there was a huge demand of skilled biodiversity experts, the release added.
