Escaped Covid-19 patient found dead at Kothagudem railway station

Kothagudem: A 40-year-old Covid-19 patient, who escaped from District Hospital while being treated, was found dead at Kothagudem railway station on Saturday.

According to the sources the patient, who was a resident of Nacharam village in Dammapet mandal, left the hospital during the midnight hours of July 30. He was said to be frightened after the death of two persons infected with the coronavirus at the hospital and hence ran away.

Concerned officials circulated a message in local social media groups seeking information about the missing patient. The officials have also alerted the man’s family members. The man reportedly reached the railway station on Friday night and slept on the station premises.

The locals at the station tried to wake him up during morning hours but he failed to respond. Then they informed the police and the doctors who confirmed his death and shifted the dead body to mortuary at the District Hospital.
