Hyderabad: The Medical Council of India has accorded permission for second batch of admissions into six medical colleges and two dental colleges being operated by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for the ensuing academic year.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, union minister for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya said that the ESIC Medical College at Sanathnagar will start admissions into its second batch of medical students. “We have already sanctioned funds worth Rs 450 crore for upgrading the existing 350 bedded hospital to a 500 bed hospital,” he said. Further, the ESIC Board has decided to upgrade six dispensaries in Hyderabad and another 23 dispensaries in the rest of Telangana State. “The dispensaries will be developed into six-bedded hospitals and we have already sought necessary land from the Telangana ” he said.
