Eve-teasing declined by 85 percent, says Mahesh Bhagwat

Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said after the formation of SHE Teams wing, cases related to harassment of women under Rachakonda limits had come down by 85 percent.

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Commissioner participated in a cake cutting ceremony at the Cyberabad Commissionerate Office, Gachibowli, on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwat said in 2017-2018, the SHE Teams wing had stopped as many as 24 child marriages and booked 629 suspects, who were caught red-handed for harassing women.

“The initiatives like SHE for Her, 24×7 monitoring by conducting decoy operations, SHE Shuttles, Margadarshak and counselling sessions to those harassing women helped in bringing down the crime by 85 percent,” he said.

SHE Teams Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Saleema, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin) Prakash Reddy were also present.
