Exercise begins to elect Warangal Mayor

Narender resigned from the post after his election as Warangal East MLA.

Hyderabad/Warangal: The exercise for election of the Mayor’s post in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to replace Nannapaneni Narender has begun. Narender resigned from the post after his election as Warangal East MLA. TRS working president KTR held a preliminary meeting with the legislators from GWMC area at TRSLP office here on Friday. A final decision will be taken after holding consultations with the remaining party leaders in this regard.

As per instructions from Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, Rama Rao discussed the issue with MLAs Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Nannapaneni Narender, and Aroori Ramesh along with Government Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy at TRSLP office. He also telephoned to T Rajaiah and Challa Dharma Reddy to seek their opinion. A report will be submitted to the Chief Minister who will take the final decision.

Ever since the Mayor’s post became vacant, several TRS corporators have begun lobbying for the post. There are several aspirants for the coveted post including 27th Division corporator Vaddiraju Ganesh who was an active participant in the separate Telangana movement as an advocate. He also worked as the president of the Warangal Bar Association. Deputy Mayor Sirajoddin, senior corporator Gunda Prakash Rao, Warangal West MLA Vinay Bhaskar’s brother Vijay Bhaskar, TRS State secretary Pochampally Srinivas Reddy’s sister Nalla Swarooparani Reddy and TS Women Cooperative Finance Corporation chairperson Gundu Sudharani’s daughter-in-law Gundu Ashritha Reddy, are also aspiring for the post.
