Hyderabad: IT industry major Infosys launched an inquiry into what it described as an “inappropriate post” by a person claiming to be its employee on Thursday. The tweet by the purported Infosys staffer spoke about spreading the virus by going out and sneezing with open mouth, leading to an avalanche of angry tweets by twitter users.
The company was quick to put out a tweet saying “We are deeply concerned with an inappropriate post being attributed to an Infosys employee. We strongly reaffirm our commitment to responsible social-sharing. Our preliminary enquiry, and discussions with our employee suggest that this could be a case of a mistaken identity.”.
Continuing its tweet, Infosys promised strict action after the inquiry The second tweet by the company said : ““Given the seriousness with which we take such matters, we are investigating this further and will also assist with any independent investigation. The company would take appropriate action based on its investigation.”
The company’s tweets promising action did not seem to subside the anger of twiteratti who continued their tirade against the company. Many questioned the propriety of such a tweet and demanded stringent action against the person. Many asked Infosys to say whether he was their employee or not, while some deep searched the net and came up with the skype identity of the twitter user, which identifies himself as a staffer of Infosys.
