Mahabubabad: Cold weather conditions have claimed the life of a farmer who slept in the open area at the Kesamudram agriculture market committee (AMC) yard in the district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The farmer was identified as N Sattaiah aged around 65 years of Nayakapally village. According to the official sources, he came to sell the paddy at the market on Friday and sold the produce by evening. But he had slept the market yard outside of the guest house and died of cold weather in the wee hours.
When contacted, AMC secretary P Mallesham said that Sattiah slept outside though he could have slept at the guest house adding that Sattiah could not go to his village as there was no transport facility in the evening. “He was also suffering from asthma,” he said adding that they would try to get financial aid from the government.
However, the relatives of the deceased said that Sattaiah was not allowed to sleep in the guest house. The body was shifted to Mahabubabad government hospital for the postmortem. Sattaiah is survived by wife Sattamma, one son and three daughters.
