Kothagudem: A fight over a pet dog led to the death of a person at Tallapaya village in Mulkalpalli mandal in Bhadradi Kothagudem district on Tuesday.

According to the police, Kuram Veeraswamy’s dog used to sneak into his neighbour Paddam Jogulu’s house often and cause trouble. Jugolu asked Veeraswamy several times not to let his dog come into their house, but in vain.

On Sunday, Jogulu’s wife, Bajaramma, thrashed the dog when it barged into their house. Angered by this, Veeraswamy and his family members quarrelled with Bajaramma and beat her up. Jogulu, who was not at home on Sunday, learnt about the quarrel on his return on Monday and went to Veeraswamy’s house to confront the family about the attack on his wife.

Veeraswamy. who was in a bad temper, grabbed a club and hit 50-year-old Jogulu who collapsed on the spot. Jogulu’s family members rushed him to District Hospital at Kothagudem where the doctors allegedly asked them to take him to Area Hospital at Bhadrachalam as the staff were busy with treatment to Covid-19 patients.

At Bhadrachalam, the doctors told Jogulu’s family members that his condition was serious and suggested them to take him to some other hospital for better treatment. In the process, Jogulu breathed his last in the early hours of Tuesday at the hospital.

Based on a complaint filed by Bajaramma, a case was booked, said the investigating officer D Suresh.
