Huzurabad: An idea can change your life, is the branding slogan of a well known cellular networking company. Well, looks though it is absolutely true in the case of Nampalli Venkateshwarlu, who operates a small hotel in Huzurabad town panchayat, 40 kilometres away from the district headquarters.
Venkateshwarlu, who used to lead his life by working as a waiter in hotels, is now owner of a famous hotel where tasty food Chicken Bagara is being served at a very cheaper price. Bagara rice along with chicken curry or boiled egg is served at Rs 20. Food lovers can choose either chicken curry or egg according to what they would like to eat for that day.
A resident of Huzurabad, Venkateshwarlu got an idea of starting this hotel after he came across the same kind of hotel which was serving the dish for Rs 10 at Chandrapur railway station, Maharashtra in the year 2002. As soon as he is back to his town, Venkateshwarlu started a Chicken Bagara rice point in front of Huzurabad bus stand, which evokes good response from the public. The eight member seated hotel is being operated in a single room from the last 14 years and has become much popular as best lunch spot for college students, autorickshaw and car drivers and court attendants, who became his regular customers.
After he thought of implementing his ida, he took a chance and changed the formula. Since majority of the Telangana people would not like solid rice, he decided to use fine variety rice (samba masura) and chicken curry. Initially, he used to serve bagara rice at Rs 10 but increased the price to Rs 15 three years ago. Unable to bear the abnormal hike of essential commodities like rice, oils and vegetables, he was forced to raise the price to Rs 20 a month ago.
Every day, he would sell minimum of 70 plates rice in between 7.30 am to 10 am after which the hotel would be closed. It takes minimum Rs 16 to prepare a plate bagara rice including rice, oil, chicken, and other ingredients, he informed and added that he will be getting Rs 4 benefit on each plate.
A car driver, Gopu Srinivas, who is a regular customer of chicken bagara, said they have to spend at least Rs 25 to Rs 30 for breakfast. It was better to eat tasty bagara rice with chicken.
