Hyderabad: Osmania University Vice-Chancellor S Ramachandram has ruled out any foul play in the recent fire mishap at a spot valuation centre which damaged nearly 87,000 answer scripts.
It was a fire accident that occurred due to a short circuit, he said, adding that university took entire responsibility for the incident.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, the VC said the varsity plans to make evaluation online in a phased manner.
Ramachandram said for every semester examination, the university gets nearly 15 lakh answer scripts for evaluation and it was difficult for exam branch to handle and store them due to lack of required space.
“Plans are there to take up online evaluation in a phased manner wherein evaluators can correct the answer scripts online. This move will solve the issue of space constraints to store the answer scripts,” he said.
The VC also said the affiliation process had to be done away and said more number of private colleges should get autonomy status.
On the quality improvement, he said there was a need to change the curriculum in tune with the industry needs and the varsity was working on the same.
