Five held for theft in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Rajendranagar police on Tuesday arrested five persons, four of them of a single gang, involved in seven theft cases here.

According to Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner of Police PV Padmaja, the members of the four-member gang were identified as Mohammad Ajju Khan alias Sultan (19) a painter, Shaik Fareed (19) an air-cooler mechanic, Syed Muzeeb Hussain (19) a fruit vendor and Syed Irfan (21), a driver. All of them were from MM Pahadi in Rajendranagar.

She said the gang used to offer free lifts to victims and take them to an isolated place on the city outskirts first before threatening them and robbing them. Police have recovered 11 mobile phones, one auto and two knives from the gang.

In another case, Mohammad Mubeen (21) was arrested for stealing gadgets, two-wheelers and other valuables from houses under the Rajendranagar police station limits. The DCP said Mubeen, a habitual-offender, was arrested earlier for his involvement in similar offences. He had resumed his activities after being released, and was involved in four thefts now.

Police recovered three mobile phones and three motorbikes all together worth Rs.1 lakh from him. The suspects were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
