Five-year-old girl washed away in Nalgonda

Local people searching for Amulya at Chilakurthi village

Nalgonda: A five-year-old girl was washed away by the flood canal of Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project at Chilakurthi village of Peddavoora mandal in Nalgonda district on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim Valki Amulya was daughter of Valki Krishna and Mallamma, natives of Chinthapally village.

Amulya slipped into the canal and was washed away, she had gone there with her mother to wash clothes. When her mother shouted for the help, local people rushed to the spot and searched for her, but in vain.

Then the police were alerted, they in turn asked officials of Irrigation Department to stop the release of water into the canal to facilitate search operation. With the help of locals, police took up search operations but till late evening they could not find her.

Along with her parents, Amulya had come to visit her grandmother at Chilakurthi as Ganesh Chaturthi would begin from Thrusday.
