Hyderabad: Vexed with the condition of the pitch at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli here, Fateh Hyderabad and All India Football Federation (AIFF) have decided to shift their home matches of the upcoming I-League 2nd Division football tournament to RDT Anantapur from this year.

Speaking to Telangana Today on Wednesday, Yogesh Maurya, head coach of Fateh Hyderabad, said that they had to take this decision to safeguard the players’ interest.

“The pitch at the Gachibowli Stadium is not in a good shape and we didn’t want to endanger the players by allowing them to play on such a surface. So, we had to choose a different venue for the new season and we had to decide in a 24 hour period. There was a ground available in Anantapur so we went ahead.”

Maurya further disclosed that from the next season, Fateh Hyderabad will have its own stadium in the city. “We will have our own stadium in the city of Hyderabad. We could have had it this season itself but there was an untimely delay in the construction of the stadium.”
