Forest Martyrs Day observed in Adilabad

The authorities felicitated the kin of the two martyrs Ghouse Mohiuddin and Mantya from Adilabad district and planted saplings in memory of the officials slain last year.

Authorities of Forest Department, Adilabad unit, observing silence as part of Forest Martyrs Day held in Haritavanam on Wednesday

Adilabad: Authorities of Forest Department of Adilabad unit observed the Forest Martyrs Day on Wednesday in Adilabad Forest Haritavanam or Mavala Park and paid homage to officials who had laid down their lives while discharging duties. District Forest Officer Dr B Prabhakar, Utnoor FDO Vijay Kumar and Adilabad FRO A Appaiah were present at the programme.

The authorities felicitated the kin of the two martyrs Ghouse Mohiuddin and Mantya from Adilabad district and planted saplings in memory of the officials slain last year. Before observing silence for two minutes as a mark of respect, the officials paid floral tributes to the martyrs and hailed the slain officials for their supreme sacrifices.

DFO Prabhakar, who garlanded martyrs memorial and recounted martyrdom of the staffers of Forest department from the district, stressed the need to ensure personal safety while protecting the wild. He told the forest personnel to adopt certain strategies to safeguard their lives in case of threats from smugglers and poachers.

The Forest Martyrs Day was observed across Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts by the department. The Forest officials expressed concern over growing incidents of violence against the personnel for protecting the ground cover. They sought the government to equip them with weapons to thwart the attacks.
