Nirmal: The erstwhile Adilabad District Forest Range Officers’ Association president Srinivas Reddy found fault with Collector Sandeep Kumar for abusing foresters. He and Kumram Bheem Asifabad in-charge District Forest Officer Dr B Prabhakar submitted a representation to Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Sunday. Srinivas Reddy advised the Collector to change his attitude, stating that it was unfair for him to abuse the foresters. He said the IAS officer rebuked Forest Department officials of Kerameri mandal when they refused to give their consent for construction of graveyard and dumpyard in a piece of land belonging to the department.

“Foresters of Kerameri mandal turned down his proposal as part of their duties. But, this angered the Collector who used objectionable language against the officials. Due to his high-handedness, we are unable to render services. This issue was brought to the notice of the Forest Minister,” he said.

The association president said forest officials were committed to protect forest lands and will not succumb to pressure exerted by an officer. “Harassment of Forest Department officials by an IAS officer will not be tolerated,” he said, and threatened to launch an agitation if Sandeep Kumar failed to mend his ways. General Secretary of the association Shivakumar, Asifabad Forest Divisional Officer Vinay Kumar Sahu and many other officials were present.

Revolt

On June 29 last, Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) and Mandal Panchayat Officers (MPOs) raised a banner of revolt against Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha by boycotting duties indefinitely. Their major contention was that the IAS officer was not allowing them to avail weekly offs and they were unable to spend time with their families. Led by Zilla Parishad CEO Venu, they submitted a representation to ZP chairperson Kova Laxmi. However, they withdrew their protest after Indrakaran Reddy intervened in the matter. It is learnt that employees of Panchyat Raj and many other departments were also having similar issues with Sandeep Kumar.
